About: This car is built on a locally-manufactured Volkswagen chassis, with 18” Simmons wheels and teamed with Tiger Mica paint from the Holden Commodore VT-VX palette. After popping open the single-piece canopy, there is a technique to getting into the car – stand on the bucket seat and slide down into the narrow seat. The canopy will slide back down with the push of a button. This Eureka has been fitted with a Subaru Liberty EJ22 2.2 litre motor, maintaining a flat-four engine layout. It is a 4-speed manual, driving the rear wheels, the steering box, torsion bar front end and swing axle rear with disc brakes.
Bruce says “It’s a driver’s car. They handle really well. Loads of grip. The weight ratio – they are under 1000 kg usually, with people in them and full tanks. They are fairly quick off the mark and the four-wheel discs pull up really well.”
This car has air conditioning, cruise control and front and rear cameras that help point the low nose into parking spots.
